Camigliatello stands at 1272 meters above sea level, in the municipality of Spezzano della Sila, between Cosenza and San Giovanni in Fiore. It is placed centrally within the Sila plateau and several touristic resorts can be reached from the village. Camigliatello is surrounded by thick conifer forests a few kilometers far from the lovely lake Cecita and the Cupone Visitor Center in Sila National Park. A vacation destination all the year round, Camigliatello is equipped with lift systems and tracks on Mt. Curcio for all winter sports. The village has a great variety of hotels, restaurants and leisure facilities to suit everybody’s fancy.
Camigliatello is a part of the Biogenetic Reserve in the National Sila Park. Mammal species existing in the area include brown hares, squirrels, martens, foxes, wolves, beech martens, wildcats and European badgers. As for the avifauna, bird species living here are: sparrowhawks, towny owls, owls, woodcocks and cuckoos. On higher mountains, mainly on north-facing side slopes, thick beech woods grow, while at lower altitudes Sila pines are predominant, though alders are common as well. Mixed forests of black pines and beeches are also present.
