From the Tyrrhenian coast to the Ionian one, the sea of Calabria is dissimilar and breathtaking at the same time. With its white sandy beaches or rocky landfalls overlooking the sea, the Calabrian coast offers different, wonderful and above all unique landscapes. A journey from east to west, during which it is possible to contemplate the sun rise on the coasts of the high Ionian Alto Cosentino and reverberate over the crystal waters of renowned tourist centres, that in addition to modern and numerous seaside resorts preserve the ancient heart of fishing villages. Our journey continues towards Punta dell’Alice and Capo Colonna, where there is the fascinating temple of Hera Lacinia, and then down towards Capo Rizzuto, to plunge rapidly into the Gulf of Squillace along a coast of rare beauty. As we swirling towards the extreme tip of Calabria: from Locri we quickly arrive to the Costa dei Gelsomini, of great natural interest, since it is the nest of the Caretta Caretta, the sea turtle that is a protected species. After Cape Spartivento our journey proceeds towards Reggio Calabria and the Strait of Messina, before diving into the fabulous Costa Viola, so-called for the purple reflections of the Lower Tyrrhenian sea. And then we reach Tropea, pearl of the entire Mediterranean, of great international, historic and touristic interest, the gateway to the Costa degli Dei, whose seabed is characterized by one of the finest examples of Mediterranean flora and fauna. The trip ends on the high Tirreno Cosentino, admiring the sun set on the Riviera of the Cedars, in a scenario so far and different from the starting point and yet so close to push us to start our journey over again. This is what the sea of Calabria offers, an ideal climate for long vacations in well-equipped seaside resorts with every type of comforts, equipped beaches and wellness accommodations and relaxation for the whole family.
